The encoding program is ready, called CRYPT on the system. The assembled
code for the checker (which begins at 140 in the core image) is listed
in CRYPT.CHK[HAK,HPM]. CRYPT.FAI[HAK,HPM] is the source code for the
entire program. The program asks whether to encode or decode, a single
letter response is sufficient, but a longer response will work too. The
file name scanner will accept anything COPY will, including references to
devices other than DSK, eg. UDP or DTA's. The password reader does lower
to upper case conversion, as well as mapping the Stanford special characters
to standard ascii, so it should be possible to enter any password through
any teletype.
